Delhi University colleges shine in national Rankings: Hindu College takes top spot

Delhi University colleges came among the most successful ones in NIRF 2024, with six of them featured on the top-10 list of the country. Hindu College has attained the number one spot, ending Miranda House’s seven-year domination. This year, Hindu College leads the NIRF rankings, followed closely by Miranda House and St. Stephen’s College in the top three slots. Among the notable ones, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College is on the fifth position, Kirori Mal College is ninth, and Lady Shri Ram College for Women is tenth.

The statement from Delhi University read, “Six of our colleges have not only topped the list of best colleges in India but also secured the top three positions, which is a testimony to the commitment of the university to excellence.” This development was also associated with a marked increase for Delhi University in the university category, as this year it came up five places to take position sixth. The credit for this, as per the university’s Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh, lies in the effort put in by every student, faculty, and staff member of the entire university.

In Hindu College, the environment was almost electric. Principal Anju Srivastava commented on the impact such rankings have in motivating students but also on the overall atmosphere in which education is delivered. “This is an affirmation that we are on the right track, stepping up the way we educate and help our students,” Srivastava said.

However, there was a new challenge this year for Miranda House. Principal Bijayalaxmi Nanda said the changing rank was a ‘healthy push’ for continuous improvement and innovation. “It’s an opportunity to relook and improve our offerings. It makes sure that we will strive to be more competitive, not rest on our laurels,” Nanda said.

Delhi University advanced to 15th this year from 11th a year ago in the overall rankings and improved its position to 14 in ‘research institute’ category from 17.
