Two Pakistani-origin terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter in the city of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir after a cordon and search operation by the security forces turned sour. It is learned that during the cordon and search operation, the two terrorists began to fire at the security officers after which the officers retaliated, resulting in the death of the two.
Usman had been active in the Kashmir Valley since 2020, and Brigadier Deepak Mohan, Commander of 7 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, revealed that the terrorists who were killed were connected to LeT. The Army commander claimed that in recent weeks there had been more terrorist activity in the Sopore-Raflabad area. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), and the Indian Army participated in the joint operation. Citizens were evacuated safely following protocol.
The operation was conducted in a highly populated region, which presented the forces with considerable difficulties because of the possibility of civilian casualties. The terrorists were found to be citizens of Pakistan; they were part of a group that had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) to enter the area. They engaged in a range of militant operations, such as recruiting, assassinations without permission, and growing the network of overground workers (OGWs).
Terrorists from Pakistan, known as the LeT, have carried out multiple operations in Jammu and Kashmir, most notably the 2005 Mumbai train bombings that claimed over 200 lives. The gang has also been connected to several other assaults in India, including the blasts in Hyderabad in 2013 and the attacks in Mumbai in 2008.
Following the operation, a significant amount of ammo and weapons were found. The security forces' continued attempts to keep up a strong operational tempo in the area are bolstered by this successful encounter. The preservation of peace and stability in the area remained a top priority for the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. They persisted in breaking up the terror ecosystem to keep the area safe for its people.
Hakimdeen, a suspect in a recent terror attack, was just taken into custody by Jammu and Kashmir police.
