Nechiphu Tunnel: A Key Border Upgrade

Situated in the heart of the beautiful Arunachal Pradesh, a new important landmark stands tall. At 500 metres, the Nechiphu Tunnel, offering all-weather connectivity, is set to make a significant impact in the strategic Tawang area along the Line of Actual Control.

Why is this Tunnel Important?

Apart from significantly benefiting the armed forces, the tunnel is also expected to boost tourism in the region. This infrastructure-magnifying project co-aligns with the Centre's focus on enhancing connectivity and accessibility in this area, especially in the wake of the escalating border issues with China. The forward-looking tunnel is part of a larger project undertaken by the Border Road Organization, encompassing 90 projects costing ₹ 2941 crore.
