In a positive move towards Aatmnirbhar Bharat, the Indian defence has successfully developed an explosive that can double the effectiveness of warheads and bombs. SEBEX 2 has been successfully tested and approved by the Indian Navy.

It is noteworthy that SEBEX 2, is said to be the most powerful non-nuclear explosives in the world. This new explosive is said to be 2.01 times more lethal than standard TNT (Trinitrotoluene).

SEBEX 2, developed by Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), a subsidiary of Solar Industries in Nagpur, is part of the Make in India initiative. In addition to SEBEX, the company has created two more explosive formulations that will significantly enhance the capabilities of the armed forces.

TNT equivalence is a term used to measure the effectiveness of any explosive. The higher the TNT equivalence, the more lethal and destructive the explosive.

Comparing other Conventional Explosives with SIBEX 2, solar industry officials stated that DENTEX/TORPEX, used in conventional warheads and aerial bombs have a TNT equivalence of 1.25-1.30.

"SEBEX 2 would greatly improve the lethality of warheads, aerial bombs, artillery shells and other munitions which utilise blast and fragmentation effects to inflict damage to target," the official added.
