Indian soldier watches through the Himalayan Range in Ladakh

After the latest clash on 28-29 August, Indian troops have now occupied several heights in Ladakh by the LAC instead of one, engaging different units & battalions which will not only provide India with a location advantage but will be strategically beneficial as well.

The Army has issued a statement saying that on the night of 29 August, 200 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo.

Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the southern bank of the Pangong Tso, undertook measures to strengthen positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on ground, it said.

Meanwhile the Chinese military said it strongly demands India withdraw its troops from China-India border in order to avoid escalation of tension. Senior Colonel Zhang Shuili, spokesman for the PLA Western Theater Command said that the Indian army illegally crossed the Line of Actual Control on Monday, a provocative move that violated the previous consensus and urged the Indian side to withdraw its forces.

Height occupied by Indian Army troops including a special operations battalion is south of Southern bank of Pangong Tso lake near Thakung. Height was lying dormant&can give strategic advantage to side which holds it for controlling the southern bank of lake&areas around as per sources quoted ANI.

"The height is in the area under Indian side of the LAC but the Chinese also claim it to be on their side. Two brigade commander level meetings have already been held in Chushul/Moldo for resolving the matter and the tension but it has not yielded any result" it said.

The situation has now worsened as China is now bringing its units to forward location which might result in a major clash and this time, it might not be weapon-less.
