According to sources, a total of four terrorists were hiding in the area, and three of them have been eliminated during the operation. The encounter began around 9:50 am in Bajaad village in the Gandoh area. An intensified search was also followed after the action and cordon operation initiated after two terrorist attacks in the hilly district on June 11 and 12.

On June 11, six security personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post at Chattargalla. The following day, a policeman was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota Top in the Gandoh area. These incidents called for security forces to step up their anti-terrorist operations in the region.

In response to these attacks, security forces have announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh each for four Pakistani terrorists that are believed to have infiltrated and been operating in the district. This announcement aimed to gather information and encourage local cooperation in the efforts to locate and neutralise the terrorists.

The police, helped by the Army and CRPF, launched a search operation in the village of Sinoo panchayat. During the operation, security forces came under heavy fire from the hiding terrorists. Despite the fierce exchange of gunfire, the security forces managed to eliminate three of the terrorists.

An official involved in the operation said, “The gunfight began in Bajaad village in the Gandoh area around 9:50 am amid an intensified search and cordon operation by the police along with the Army and CRPF following twin terrorist attacks in the hilly district on June 11 and 12.”

The encounter was still ongoing when the last reports were received, indicating that the remaining terrorist was likely engaged in a final standoff with the security forces. The authorities are determined to neutralise all threats and restore peace in the area.

The recent operations showcase the continued efforts of security forces to combat terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The region has been a hotspot for terrorist activities for a long time as an area of dispute, needing frequent and rigorous counter-terrorism measures.
