While the Defense Ministry has designated three locations for its headquarters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Parliament that the establishment of ‘Theatre Commands’ is proceeding as planned.

While Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan is working to implement over 100 points to enhance integration among the three services, senior defence officials told India Today TV that Lucknow, Jaipur, and Thiruvanathapuram have been identified as the headquarters of the new proposed Theatre Commands.

In a similar vein, both the sea boards and the island territories will fall under the purview of the Maritime Theatre Command in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is also attempting to bring the three services together under a common military culture, as each now maintains its own force culture in daily operations.

The DMA has developed more than 100 recommendations to improve troops’ integration and cooperation, and some of these are even included in the Defense Ministry’s 100-day program.

Numerous efforts have already received approval, including cooperative maintenance for AK-203 assault rifles, other equipment, and helicopters like the Apache attack helicopters.

The DMA has established many committees to strive toward enhancing cooperation in intelligence collection, operations, and multi-domain warfare.

Additionally, the forces will witness the unification of the operations divisions at both the central headquarters and Theatre levels.
