Army to start ‘Future Warfare’ course to address cyber attacks

The Indian Army is taking an important step to improve its military skills by starting its first future warfare course. This program will run from September 23 to 27 in New Delhi. It is organized by the Headquarters Integrated Defense Staff (IDS) and will be led by General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defense Staff. The course aims to prepare military officers for modern challenges in warfare.

The course is designed for officers at various ranks, including Majors and Major Generals, from all branches of the military. Its main aim is to help these officers understand the changing nature of warfare today. The program will cover both traditional and new forms of combat, focusing on advancements in technology and tactics.

Participants will learn about different kinds of warfare, including battles where forces meet directly (contact battles) and those where they don’t (non-contact battles). They will study types of warfare like kinetic warfare, which involves direct fighting, and non-kinetic warfare, which includes things like psychological tactics and sharing information. This knowledge is important because future conflicts may use more technology in areas like cyber, space, and electromagnetic fields.

Training on advanced technologies for future military strategies

A main focus of the program will be studying new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), robotics, and hypersonics. These technologies are changing the way wars are fought, so it’s important for military leaders to learn about them to update their strategies.

The course has been developed in response to the rapid changes in technology and the global security environment. It aims to prepare military leaders to incorporate innovative technologies and tactics into their operations.
