Indian Army along with the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a search operation in the dense forest of Nar Khas area, Mendhar subdivision of Poonch district on Thursday following intelligence inputs about cross border infiltration.
The defence spokesperson, Lt Col Devender Anand said: “During the operation, there was an exchange of heavy fire between our troops and terrorists during the evening hours.” Two soldiers were severely injured during the action who succumbed to their injuries subsequently.
This has been the second instance this week after earlier on Monday 5 Indian soldiers identified as Naib Subedar Jaswinder Singh, Naik Mandeep Singh, Sepoys Gajjan Singh, Saraj Singh, and Vaisakh H lost their lives in a nearby area of Dera Ki Gali in the Surankote area of Poonch during an encounter between our forces and terrorists.
During this incident, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Rajouri-Poonch range Vivek Gupta told reporters that the terrorists have been confined to a particular area who were present in the area for the last two to three months.
The rise in the number of these operations and killings in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri is a cause for concern.
This pattern of infiltration is usually on a high in the months leading to the winter, as during peak winters paving a way through the already inhospitable terrain becomes next to impossible, thus the Pakistani handlers of these Jihadists try to make the most of the time at their disposal by sending more and more of these lunatics.
The recent turn of events can only exemplify this, as in the past few days the incidents of exchange of fire between these groups has increased where we were able to contain and kill few of the terrorists for various ill deeds, although during the process a good number of our men also made a supreme sacrifice.
The ill deeds carried out by the terrorists are not only limited to the forces as they have been chasing and killing many civilians too in recent weeks where, a prominent Kashmiri Pandit businessman and a school teacher, were killed amongst others.
BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta said the government would ensure that whosoever will dare to stand against the country will either be neutralized or put behind bars. He said the proxy war which Pakistan has been waging in Kashmir will ruin that country because India will not tolerate any misadventure and will give a befitting reply to every act of mischief, but simply saying does not help one to achieve a cause because by what is visible on the ground are nothing but the casualties of both civilians and defence personnel as well as the rising cases of infiltration and clashes in the valley yet again.
