A 30-year-old Nepali national was arrested in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra, for allegedly assaulting his 28-year-old wife, according to police. The man, who was suspicion of his wife's faithfulness, allegedly cut two holes and "locked" up her private parts after viciously attacking her.

The 30-year-old accused, Upendra Hudake, has been taken into custody, and his 28-year-old wife has had emergency surgery at a nearby hospital; her condition is currently stable.

The pair is from a village in Nepal, according to Wakad Police Station Investigating Officer Balaji Mete, who spoke with IANS. They lived close to Wakad with Upendra Hudake's sister and her family after moving to Pune in early May in search of work.

The horrifying event happened on May 11th, when Upendra Hudake, who was extremely intoxicated, attacked and mistreated his wife when he got home.

She denied being unfaithful to Upendra Hudake, who had threatened her with a kitchen knife.

She lay begging for him to stop, but Upendra Hudake would not believe her. He kept beating and kicking her, terrorising her with the knife, and tying her up with a stole on the ground.

Upendra Hudake proceeded with his terrifying attack, stabbing the defenceless woman twice in the genital area, fastening a small brass lock with iron screws, and leaving her bleeding and wailing for assistance. He even tossed the lock's key aside.

When migrant labourer Lalit Parihar, a neighbour, heard the disturbance, he raced to the house and discovered the severely injured and heavily bleeding woman writhing in agony on the floor.

After he made a distress call, a number of neighbours, including some other Nepalis residing in the area, responded to Upendra Hudake's residence and took her, semi-conscious, to a local hospital, according to the IO.

She had an emergency operation to patch the serious wounds and remove the iron screws and lock.

When she was feeling better, five days later on Thursday, the woman mustered the bravery to file a complaint against her husband at the Wakad Police Station, according to IO Mete.

“We took immediate cognisance of the brutal crime and arrested the accused Hudake. He was produced before a Wakad Court which has given him two weeks' magisterial custody,” said Mete.

Mete added that Upendra Hudake has been charged under IPC Section 323, 506(2) and others, and further investigations are ongoing in the matter.
