In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, a man of 30 years reportedly took his wife’s life using a sharp weapon after a dispute over delay in meal preparation. Following this, he ended his own life by hanging in their residence.
The police reported that the event occurred in the village of Kotwalanpurwa, within the jurisdiction of the Thangaon police station, on Monday, March 18.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Thangaon police station, Hanumant Lal Tiwari, identified the deceased as 28-year-old Prema Devi and her spouse, Parasram.
As per the police’s account, an enraged Parasram initially assaulted and killed his wife using a deadly weapon. Anticipating the repercussions and possible imprisonment, he subsequently chose to suicide by hanging himself within their home, stated SHO Tiwari.
The police further explained that Parasram had come home from fieldwork on Monday afternoon and requested food from his wife. When he discovered that the meal was not yet prepared, he grew agitated, which led to a dispute between the couple.
The disagreement intensified to the extent that Parasram attacked his wife multiple times with the lethal instrument, leading to her death, the police added.
Following the incident, local residents reported that the accused husband secluded himself in a room and later committed suicide by hanging.
The police have confirmed that the bodies have been dispatched for an autopsy.
