The victim's mother filed a case against Yediyurappa accusing him of sexually assaulting her 17-year-old daughter. The Ex CM was booked on March 14, by the Sadashivanagar police in Bengaluru under POCSO Act Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

As the arrest warrant is now issued, the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) team is on the move to arrest the BJP leader. according to the sources, CID has begun its search for the 81-year-old Yediyurappa.
The accused, who is also a member of BJP's parliamentary board, is currently in Delhi, and sources have claimed that he will join the probe after he returns.

However, the accused have filed two petitions in the Karnataka High Court, one seeking bail and the other for demanding a stay in the investigation quashing the complaint claiming that he is "falsely implicated" in the case.

Earlier this week, the victim's brother filed a petition in the court claiming that though the case was registered on March 14, there hasn't been any progress in the investigation. He pleaded that the accused should be arrested.

As the case was registered, the Karnataka Director General of Police Alok Mohan transferred it to the CID for further investigation. The CID has collected 164 statements from the victim and the mother and has gathered voice samples of Yediyurappa.

The victim's mother, who filed the case against Yediyurappa died last month due to lung cancer.

For the further proceedings of the case, the government has appointed Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Ashok H Nayak to represent the CID.
