Thief enters house to steal, falls asleep in AC, cops wake him up

Police said the intruder had even taken out the water pump. “He has been identified as Kapil and booked under IPC section 379 (theft),” said SHO Ghazipur (Indiranagar) Vikas Rai.

Following his discovery on the floor of a home he had broken into to commit robbery, a man was taken into custody on Sunday, June 2, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Based on the police report, the man went to sleep after turning on the air conditioner in the house while intoxicated.

When the man entered the Indiranagar neighbourhood of Lucknow early on Sunday morning, something happened. Owner of the house was a Dr. Sunil Pandey, who was out of town when the incident happened. He is assigned to Varanasi. The man opened the front gate of the residence after discovering it was unoccupied.

Seeing that the air conditioner was on, the man proceeded to the home’s drawing room and turned it on. After that, he promptly fell asleep by taking a cosy seat on the floor, resting his head on a cushion.
Dr. Pandey’s neighbours called him when they noticed the front gate of the house was open. He did, however, notify the police as he was not in Lucknow at the time.

When the authorities got there, the man was fast sleeping and the air conditioner was running. The thief is shown sleeping well in a photo while clutching a cell phone in his right hand. According to DCP North Zone R Vijay Shankar, the man went into the residence intending to steal, but he passed out.

Police said the intruder had even taken out the water pump. “He has been identified as Kapil and booked under IPC section 379 (theft),” said SHO Ghazipur (Indiranagar) Vikas Rai.

Due to his extreme inebriation, he dozed off and was unable to wake up. He was taken into custody after the neighbours reported it, the officer stated.
