A 27-year-old man from Gautam Buddha Nagar was arrested for allegedly killing a 23-year-old woman after she refused to marry him. The tragic incident took place on Saturday in Satyam Residency Colony, near GT Road.
Virendra, who lived in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, went to Rajesh Kumar's house and attacked his daughter Rakhi with a knife. Rakhi was taken to a hospital in Ghaziabad in serious condition but sadly passed away from her injuries that same night.
Virendra’s anger over unfulfilled promise
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said that Rakhi and Virendra's families knew each other and had lived together in Meerut in the past. Rakhi and Virendra's marriage had been planned, but her family said the marriage would only happen if Virendra got a government job first.
The DCP further stated, “Frustrated by his failure to get the job, Virendra visited Rakhi’s house to convince her, but when her mother refused to accept the marriage, he attacked Rakhi in a fit of rage."
Cab driver killed in Mumbai after fight over accident
In another incident, a 38-year-old cab driver named Adil Talim Khan was stabbed to death in his house in Mumbai late on Saturday night. His wife was there at the time. Two men, Abdul Karim Sheikh (called Dadu) and Sharif Abbas Ali Sheikh (called Pappu), entered his house and killed him.
A police officer explained, "The murder was the result of a fight between the victim and the mother of one of the accused. It started after Khan's car hit one of the accused’s motorcycles.”
The two accused were arrested on Sunday and charged with murder and other offences under Indian law.
