A 2024 assault FIR against Vipin Bhati, the main accused in the alleged dowry death of his wife Nikki Bhati, has resurfaced amid ongoing investigations. The FIR was registered at Jarcha police station after Vipin was caught with a girl, confirmed Kasna SHO Dharmendra Shukla to Hindustan Times.
The Greater Noida Police arrested Nikki’s father-in-law and brother-in-law on Monday in connection with her alleged murder on August 21 in the Kasna area. Earlier, Vipin and his mother, Daya Bhati (55), had also been taken into custody.
Nikki, 28, was reportedly set afire by her husband and in-laws over dowry demands. Her sister, Kanchan, who is married to Vipin’s brother, shared videos claiming Vipin poured liquid on Nikki while she sat helplessly and later set her ablaze.
Investigators said the murder followed months of tension over Nikki’s wish to run a beauty parlour and her active presence on Instagram, where she often posted reels with her sister. On the day of the incident, Nikki allegedly asked Vipin to allow her to reopen the parlour, but he refused. He reportedly said, “women in the family are not allowed to run businesses or create social media content.”
While multiple clips circulated on social media show Nikki being assaulted and set on fire, a CCTV video claiming to show Vipin outside the house at the time of the incident has also surfaced. Police said the authenticity of this footage is not confirmed and is only being circulated online.
