In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district, a cab driver killed a man because the latter objected to him criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The driver has been identified as Amjad while the victim is Rajesh Dubey (52). The victim had gone to attend his nephew's wedding on Sunday. His brother revealed that on Monday during his return journey, a political discussion took place between Rajesh Dubey and Dhirendra Pandey, who was also in the car.

A dispute arose between the driver, Amjad, and Rajesh due to the political discussion. Dhirendra Pandey intervened and resolved the issue before returning to his village. Instead of dropping Rajesh to his home, the accused took him a short distance away and dropped him on the road.

As Rajesh was walking toward his house, the driver, who was in a Bolero car, deliberately ran over him, and dragged him for 50 feet or so before fleeing the crime scene. The victim was declared dead on-spot.

"Deceased Rajesh Dubey went to his brother Rakesh Dubey's son's wedding in Mirzapur by this car. A relative of his, who was also sitting in the SUV, told that there were some arguments over politics which irked the driver, which led to the incident", said Mirzapur Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra.

After hearing the news of the tragic incident, the family members of the deceased staged a protest by blocking the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway and demanding the immediate arrest of the culprit. The police managed to convince the family members to return home after assuring them that the murderer would be caught.
