A shocking incident has been reported on the Mallipattanam Government School campus in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. A 26-year-old teacher named Ramani was murdered in cold blood by a man who allegedly went into a rage for having been rejected by her for marriage. Ramani was attacked with a sharp weapon by Madhan, 30, leaving two neck wounds. She died while being taken to the hospital.

Ramani had just met Madhan's family to consider their marriage proposal but declined, according to sources. The news of rejection from Ramani apparently shattered his heart, and he broke into the school and attacked Ramani viciously in the morning. The police have arrested him and are questioning him.

A senior police officer confirmed the attack was driven by personal motives, highlighting the tragedy of the situation. "It was a personal motive," the officer told NDTV.

The local community was shocked after the attack was reported. Tamil Nadu's School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamizhi condemned the crime in the strongest words, telling the public that the state government would act very strictly against the suspect while keeping the emotional well-being of the students who experienced the situation a top priority.

“We strongly condemn the attack on Ramani, a teacher who worked in Mallipattanam Government School, Thanjavur District. Violence against teachers cannot be tolerated. Strict legal action will be taken against the assailant. We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, students, and teachers,” Minister Poyyamizhi said in a statement.

In this regard, the minister immediately announced arranging counseling sessions for the students at the school, as they may bear extreme trauma because of this incident.
