A 40-year-old man was arrested in Lucknow for pretending to be an Army captain to trick women into relationships and take money from them. The man, Haider Ali, is from Balasore in Odisha. He used a fake name, Hartik Beglo, claiming to be an officer in the Army Medical Corps. He would ask women for money, making up fake reasons. Once he took the money, he would stop talking to them and move to a different state to find new women to cheat.
Fraudster lived a luxurious life using stolen money
Police said Haider Ali used the money he made from these scams to live a rich life. However, his luck changed when he tried to fool a woman in Lucknow, who began to suspect him. She reported him to the police, and an investigation started.
The police found that Haider Ali had worked in security companies in many cities like Hyderabad, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. In each of these cities, he tricked women and then disappeared after taking their money. Authorities also discovered that he shared photos of himself in Army uniforms on social media, using fake names like ‘Indiancammandoharik,’ ‘armanbeglo,’ and ‘armybeglo.’
Fake army uniforms and documents found
During the investigation, the police recovered a fake Army uniform, three-star flaps, an Army beret, a fake Aadhaar card, and an Army canteen card from Haider Ali. These findings raised further questions about his past and his criminal record, which is still under investigation.
According to Senior Police Officer Nipun Agarwal, "The complainant told police that the accused cheated her into a physical relationship and then duped her of money. We arrested him and questioned him. His original name is Haider Ali Beg. He hid his religion and introduced himself as Hardik Beglo and lured several women into relationships and duped them. He talked them into financing cars for him and also borrowed huge sums from them. We are also scanning his call records to locate the women he targeted. He has told us about four women so far."
