In New Delhi's Khajuri Khas area, a tragic incident occurred where a man was arrested for allegedly killing his brother-in-law in front of his family during bhai dooj celebrations.

The accused Ajay Verma was a 46-year-old originally from Bulandshahr in UP. He had studied till class 2 and had changed his name to Ajay Verma after getting married in 2005.  

He was an auto driver for several years, it was in 2017 that he started making wedding garlands with his brother-in-law Hemant. However, the partnership broke off two years later in 2019 after some dispute over money and they became enemies.

 

What happened?

 

The accused Ali Hassan alias Ajay Verma shot Hemant multiple times and fled the scene after the shooting.

The incident stemmed from a dispute between the two men, hemant along with his wife had gone to Sonia Vihar to celebrate bhai dooj, during this Ali asked Hemant to withdraw a pending case against him but Hemant refused to do so. This led to a heated argument between them. 

The police reported it was after their argument Ajay got angry and took out his revolver and shot Hemant, after which he was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Local police are actively pursuing the accused and investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
