A man from Gurugram, living an ordinary life, suddenly found himself in the middle of an extraordinary and bitter tale of deception. The man identified as Rohit Gupta was allegedly drugged and robbed by a woman he met on the dating app, Bumble. He claimed the woman stripped him of his iPhone 14 Pro, gold jewelry, and an astonishing Rs 1.78 Lakh from his bank accounts.
The Incident
Gupta had connected with a woman named Sakshi, also known as Payal, on Bumble. Sakshi claimed to be a resident of Delhi, currently staying with her aunt in Gurugram. On the night of October 1, Gupta met her in person, having been asked to pick her up near Dockyard Bar in Sector 47, followed by purchasing liquor and heading back to his residence.
This casual date took a disturbing turn when Sakshi asked Gupta to fetch ice from the kitchen. In his absence, it is alleged that she spiked his drink, causing him to lose consciousness until the morning of October 3.
Sakshi Vanishes with Gupta's Cash and Bank Cards
When Gupta regained consciousness two days later, he found Sakshi missing along with several of his valuables. His losses included an iPhone Pro 14, gold chains worth Rs. 90,000, Rs. 10,000 in cash, and his credit and debit cards. To add insult to injury, unauthorized transactions worth Rs. 1.78 lakh had been made using his bank cards.
Gupta mentioned in his police complaint, "the effect of the drug was so severe that I woke up on the morning of October 3. I found the woman was missing and so was my gold chain, an iPhone 14 Pro, Rs 10,000 in cash, credit, and debit cards.
Police Action and Current Situation
Immediately after the incident, Gupta reported the crime to the police. The police swiftly registered a case under sections 328 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code at DLF Police Station. These sections pertain to causing harm through the use of poison and theft from a residence house, respectively. However, Sakshi is yet to be apprehended and remains at large.
