A man from Michigan has been arrested after reportedly burning down his ex-girlfriend's Pennsylvania home as a revenge fire for her online romance. Police say 21-year-old Harrison Jones of Rockford, Michigan, traveled over 700 miles to perpetrate the crime, putting six lives at risk.

The targeted house, located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, was occupied by six people when Jones allegedly set the fire. The residents, identified as Andrew and Stacy Zalenski, their children Alex and Ava, and Stacy’s parents, Joe and Karen Wendowski, were forced to flee in the middle of the night. Some had to jump from second-story windows to escape the rapidly spreading flames. Tragically, the family’s two dogs, Trey and Jett, did not survive.

“It’s a miracle they all survived,” Bensalem Public Safety Director William McVey stated at a press conference on Monday.

Investigators concluded the fire was intentional after watching surveillance video from a neighbor's security camera. The video captured a black sedan arriving at 5 a.m., with a suspect getting out of the car and walking toward the rear of the house. About ten minutes later, the suspect was observed running back to the vehicle and speeding off. Within seconds, the house was engulfed in flames.

Authorities traced the vehicle back to Jones, who was arrested two days later. Policenoted that he had visible burns on his arm, further linking him to the crime.

According to court filings, Jones is the former boyfriend of a Michigan woman who had been having an online relationship with a male resident of Bensalem since 2023. Investigators believe Jones originally planned to bring his former girlfriend to meet the man in Pennsylvania. However, rather than pick her up, he traveled there alone, purportedly with "murderous intentions."

Jones is now charged with several offenses, including six attempted homicide counts, arson, and other connected offenses. He awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.

The Zalenski family lost everything when their home burned. To help them rebuild, a GoFundMe campaign has been started. The fundraiser points out the struggles the family has already faced, including Stacy's three-year battle with cancer.

"Losing their precious pets, their house, and all that they have worked for is heartbreaking," the fundraiser states.

Further, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has launched a separate campaign in memory of Trey and Jett. The organization plans to dedicate a kennel in honor of the heroic pets who perished in the fire.

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn denounced the assault, saying, "This family endured an inconceivable loss. This defendant's actions are unimaginable, and he will be brought to justice."

Jones is held in custody pending his extradition to Pennsylvania, where he will stand trial for the horrific crime.
