Has it ever happened that you’re eating momos at a roadside shop and the vendor gives you less ‘chutney’ so you just ask him for more and the vendor gives you a nasty look? Well, this is almost exactly what happened with Sandeep, a Delhi resident. The only difference in Sandeep’s case being that he was stabbed by the momo seller for demanding extra ‘chutney’.

According to the police reports, a 34-year-old man, Sandeep was grievously injured after being stabbed in the face by a momo vendor in Shahdara’s Farsh Bazar area in Delhi after Sandeep who runs a small mobile-charger-making unit demanded extra ‘red chutney’ from the vendor. When the vendor wouldn’t heed to his demand and give him the extra ‘red chutney’, an altercation ensued between the two.

Quoting the police, an NDTV report said Sandeep was admitted to the Hedgewar Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for serious facial injuries. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Rohit Meena noted that on Wednesday evening, a call was received at the police control room regarding a stabbing incident. The police team soon rushed to the spot to find Sandeep injured and rushed him to the hospital.

“Our team met Sandeep, who stated that he had gone to purchase momos from the cart of Vikas, who is a resident of the same colony. Vikas handed over the momos to Sandeep along with red sauce. Sandeep demanded more sauce from Vikas, who refused saying he had a limited stock of the sauce and more customers would need it. When Sandeep insisted an altercation broke out between the two and it soon turned violent. Vikas picked up a knife from the cart and stabbed Sandeep twice in his face, causing serious stab wounds,” DCP Meena was quoted as saying.
