The Haryana government suspended an HCS officer after a public health department worker made a serious accusation. The worker said that the officer forced him into sexual activity at gunpoint about six months ago. A senior police official stated that they had asked the worker to come and officially share his side of the story.
The suspension order from the state government on Thursday said that, during his suspension, the officer would work under the Chief Secretary’s office. The order also states that he cannot leave the main office area unless he gets permission from the Chief Secretary. The order did not give any more details about why he was suspended.
Incident investigation shifted to Hisar jurisdiction
At first, reports said that the incident happened in Fatehabad. But after officials from Fatehabad spoke with the complainant, they realised it actually took place in Hisar’s area. Once this was confirmed, Haryana Police gave orders to take proper action, a senior officer shared with the media.
The person who made the complaint now works with the Haryana Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. He also claimed that the officer made insulting comments about his caste during the incident. To take action, he filed a complaint with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, informed senior officers in his department, and sent copies of the complaint, along with a video of the incident, to the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Chief Minister’s office. The case has gained public attention as a copy of the complaint has circulated widely online.
Why do women and workers face such problems?
Many times, women and especially workers face mistreatment because they hold positions with less power or work under higher authorities who may misuse their power. Education and status should bring responsibility and respect. But, sadly, even people in high positions sometimes forget humanity and fairness, leading to such issues.
