A man was arrested for running a fake court and giving out fake decisions in land dispute cases in Gujarat. The man, named Morris Samuel Christian, has been operating this fake court since 2019, mainly dealing with land cases in the Gandhinagar area. This came to everyone's attention when someone filed a police complaint against him, and the case was taken to the Ahmedabad City Civil Court for investigation.

Fake mediation centres and judgements

The police said that Morris Samuel Christian started a fake mediation centre in Ahmedabad, where he pretended to be a judge and gave fake decisions of cases, especially in land dispute cases involving government land. He scammed many people into thinking they were in a real court, and people easily connected with his manipulating power. His fake decisions mostly supported his clients, making them believe they were winning their cases.

Christian promised his clients that their land disputes would be solved quickly, but he charged them a lot of money. His helpers pretended to be court workers, making the fake court look real to fool people.

In 2019, Christian gave a fake decision in favour of one of his clients about government land in the Paldi area. He claimed to be a government-appointed "official arbitrator" while lying all the time. The scam was uncovered after Hardik Desai, the City Civil Court Registrar in Bhadra, lodged a complaint with the Karanj Police Station. This led to Christian's arrest. He now faces charges for fraud and pretending to be someone he is not under several laws from the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Why is it important to check someone's background?

This case clearly shows how easily people can be fooled or influenced by someone’s trick if they don’t check someone's background properly. It's important to research and verify the person’s credentials for any case, especially in legal matters. If you don’t know them personally, never trust someone blindly, as it could lead to scams like the fake court incident.
