A first-year woman engineering student was reportedly sexually assaulted in a private hostel at Ibrahimpatnam. The accused, a driver working for the hostel's owner, allegedly entered her room under the pretext of offering a bed sheet.
When the student opened the door, the man forced his way inside and assaulted her, police said. At the time of the incident, some other students were in their respective rooms. The victim was preparing for her practical exams scheduled for Thursday.
After the attack, the woman filed a complaint, and the police registered a case. She was taken to the hospital for medical examination, and evidence was collected from the scene.
The accused has been apprehended, and further investigation is ongoing. The incident raises questions about the safety of women in hostels and emphasises the need for stricter security measures in such accommodations.
