A prominent diamond dealer in Mumbai, Priyank Shah, was duped out of diamonds worth Rs 1.92 crore by a father and son duo: Kishore and Maulik Kishore Abhangi. They are believed to have fled the city.

The incident took place in the Bandra Kurla Complex area, where Shah, a well-known diamond merchant, met Kishore Abhangi through a diamond broker, Kishore Limbasia.

The Abhangis were known to be the directors of Parth Diamonds, who were to conduct a high-profile deal involving premium-quality diamonds.

Shah, who had known Limbasia for five years, was convinced to hand over 459 carats of diamonds, valued at Rs 1.92 crore, to the Abhangis for the sale to a wealthy client.

The duo assured Shah that the deal would be settled within a week. However, the Abhangis continuously stalled the transaction, for reasons such as showing the diamonds to potential buyers.

Despite Shah's repeated efforts, the father-son duo failed to provide any updates. When Shah couldn't reach them, he approached Limbasia, who also hadn't seen them for days either.

Desperate for answers, Shah visited their office in Bandra-Kurla Complex, only to find it locked. Realizing that he had been conned, Shah approached the Mumbai Police and filed a fraud complaint.

Preliminary investigations have confirmed that the Abhangis fled with the diamonds, and a special operation has been launched to track them down.

The police have registered a case of fraud against them, and are working to catch the criminals.
