Schools in New Delhi were thrown into a state of panic as five of them received bomb threats on Wednesday morning, according to police officials. Among the schools targeted were Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar, Delhi Public School in Dwarka, Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj, and Amity School in Saket. The threats were communicated via email, causing concern and prompting immediate response measures.
Upon receiving information about the threatening emails, local police promptly evacuated all five schools. Parents of one student studying in DPS Dwarka shared their experience and said "We got a message from the school that due to unavoidable situation, the school will remain closed today. We were not aware of the situation but later we got to know that there was a bomb threat to the school. Recently, some schools received a bomb threat email but it turned out to be a hoax.”
Teams including bomb detection experts, bomb disposal squads, and officials from the Delhi Fire Service were swiftly dispatched to the schools. Currently, a thorough search operation is in progress to ensure the safety and security of the premises.The police officials said “The school premises were evacuated after local police were informed.”
According to an officer, additional schools have reportedly received similar threatening emails, leading authorities to suspect that a single individual may be responsible for the threats. The police officials added “Date line is not mentioned and BCC is mentioned in the mail, which means one mail has been sent to many places. At present an investigation is being done.” Security agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell, are actively investigating to trace the origin of the emails and apprehend the perpetrator.
