In a significant development concerning the ongoing sex scandal case, a Bengaluru court, on Friday, remanded Prajwal Revanna, the Hassan Member of Parliament (MP) and suspended Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leader, to Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody until June 6.
Revanna Arrested Upon Return in Sex Scandal Case
Revanna was taken into custody at Kempegowda Airport by a team of five-member female police officers immediately upon his arrival from Munich.
Following his arrest, he underwent a routine medical check-up at a city hospital before being presented in court for a remand hearing.
Revanna had fled to Germany as soon as his sex tapes became widely known.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka Police apprehended him and took him to the CID office for questioning. Police sources indicate that a potency test is being considered as part of the investigation.
The sex tapes, featuring the Hassan MP, have been sent to the Forensics Science Laboratory Division for analysis.
The investigative team is diligently working to identify the primary device used to record the obscene videos. They aim to determine which mobile phone was used for filming and will question Revanna about it.
Unfortunately, the primary device has been destroyed. If investigators cannot locate it, an additional charge of “witness tampering” may be brought against the JD(S) MP.
Less than a week after the initial exposure of the videos depicting women in forced sex acts, Prajwal Revanna fled to Germany using a diplomatic passport facilitated by his position as a member of the Lok Sabha.
He has now returned to India and is seeking re-election from Hassan as an NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. In a video message, he pledged to cooperate with the probe team and asserted that the charges against him are false.
The scandal surrounding Prajwal Revanna has ignited a political storm, with the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD (S) engaged in a heated debate over the allegations.
