On Monday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested K Jaga Jyothi, an executive engineer from Telangana's Tribal Welfare Engineering department, for allegedly accepting Rs. 84000 bribe.

The arrest came after a complaint was filed by an individual accusing Jyothi of demanding a bribe in exchange for an official favor. The ACB swiftly conducted an operation and apprehended Jyothi while she was in the process of accepting the specified amount. A video capturing Jyothi's emotional reaction upon being caught has circulated widely on social media.

Jyothi underwent a phenolphthalein test, which indicated the presence of the chemical compound on her right-hand fingers. Phenolphthalein is known to turn pink upon decomposition, making it a reliable method for identifying bribe recipients. The ACB asserted that Jyothi had engaged in improper and dishonest conduct in the performance of her duties to gain an unfair advantage.

Subsequent to the arrest, the bribe amount of ₹ 84,000 was recovered from Jyothi's possession. She is currently in custody and is set to appear before a court in Hyderabad.
