Bihar teen dies after ‘fake doctor’ uses YouTube tutorials to conduct surgery

According to the teen's relatives, the boy passed away en route, and the "doctor" and those accompanying him left the body at the hospital and fled the scene.

In Saran, Bihar, a 15-year-old boy passed away during an operation to remove a gallbladder stone, purportedly conducted by a fake doctor who had apparently taken inspiration from YouTube videos. When the adolescent’s condition worsened, the ‘doctor’ called for an ambulance to take him to a hospital in Patna, the state capital. According to the teen’s relatives, the boy passed away en route, and the “doctor” and those accompanying him left the body at the hospital and fled the scene.

Krishna Kumar vomited multiple times, according to his family, who transported him to Ganpati Hospital in Saran.

“We admitted him, and the vomiting ceased shortly afterwards. However, his doctor, Ajit Kumar Puri, has advised him to undergo surgery. He carried out the operation by watching YouTube videos. “My son died later,” says Chandan Shaw.

The family members said they didn’t know if the ‘doctor’ was really qualified. “We think he was self-styled and fake,” they stated.
The teenager’s grandfather reported that the boy was feeling better when the vomiting stopped.

“But the doctor sent the father away on an errand and began operating on the boy without the family’s consent. The boy was in pain. When we questioned the doctor why he was in pain, he snapped and demanded whether we were doctors. Later that evening, the boy stopped breathing. He was revived (by CPR) and transported to Patna. He died on the way. They fled, leaving the boy’s body on the hospital stairs,” claimed Krishna Kumar’s grandfather, Prahlad Prasad Shaw.
When asked why they took the boy to Ajit Kumar Puri if they weren’t convinced about his qualifications, the family members replied, “We just wanted the vomiting to stop. He conducted the procedure without our approval.”

The body has been submitted for an autopsy, and the police have filed an FIR. There are efforts underway to locate the self-proclaimed doctor and other staff members of Ganpati Seva Sadan.
