In two separate operations in Assam's Sivasagar and Karbi Anglong districts, Assam Police seize drugs valued at Rs 48 crore.
During these two operations, police apprehended three individuals. In the first operation, which took place on the night of June 16–17, Sivasagar district police intercepted a Tata 407 truck coming from the Nagaland side. A senior police officer stated, “During the search, the police team recovered a total of 399 soap cases of heroin weighing about 4.6 kg from the vehicle and apprehended two persons.” In a separate operation, police in Karbi Anglong district seized 8.033 kg of morphine and arrested one individual.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on “Striking the Drugs Network; Drugs recovered worth Rs 48 crore! In two separate anti-narcotics operations carried out, @assampolice has been able to recover a huge quantity of drugs coming from a neighboring state and save countless lives from getting ruined. @SivasagarPol recovered 4.6 kg of heroin valued at Rs 40 crore and apprehended two accused. @karbianglongpol recovered 8.033 kg of morphine valued at Rs 8 crore and apprehended one accused.
