With nearly 75 crore vaccine jabs administered, scientists are now claiming India might not even see a third wave and just some short repeated spikes in cases depending on the region and weather.
Three states and an equal number of Union territories (UTs) comprising Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Ladakh, and Lakshadweep have administered the first dose of covid-19 vaccines to all their eligible population, the government said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Centre told the Supreme Court that it has issued guidelines to identify covid-related deaths for providing compensation to the kin of the deceased.
The Centre said the Office of the Registrar General of India on 3 September issued a circular to provide a medical certificate for the cause of death to the kin of those who have died of covid.
The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers getting inoculated in the first phase.
It is due to this huge number of vaccination that India is continuously postponing the disastrous third wave which has till date hit all of Europe, Australia, US, Russia, Brazil and Mexico.
Many more states might soon be achieving 100% vaccination stats as India currently on an average vaccinates 70 lakh people per day.
The economic recovery and GDP rise for the Q2 on the other hand might will be bigger than the Q1 of FY 21-22 because during the first quarter, there were certain restrictions & lockdowns due to the second wave while in quarter 2, almost everything is back to normal across the country.
India logged 27,254 new cases in the last 24 hours, which is 4.6 per cent lower than yesterday's cases (28,591). The country also reported 219 deaths.
