In a recent circular dated April 26, NPCI announced that starting June 16, 2025, UPI users will experience faster response times. The time to check transaction status will be reduced from 30 seconds to just 10 seconds. Similarly, reversing a UPI payment will now take 10 seconds instead of the previous 30. Also, the time for sending or receiving money will be cut in half, from 30 seconds to 15 seconds, ensuring a quicker and smoother experience for users.
Moreover, if a user needs to validate an address, it will now only take 10 seconds, down from the previous 15. Whether you're sending or receiving money, checking payment status, or reversing a payment, the system will now respond significantly faster, improving the overall UPI experience.
UPI has become one of India’s most widely used digital payment systems. To enhance the user experience, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has instructed banks and payment service providers (PSPs) to update their systems. These updates will ensure that UPI transactions are faster without causing any issues with transaction success.
NPCI mentioned in its notice that the changes are intended to improve customer experience and requested that banks make sure the updates are made without causing technical problems or transaction failures.
Earlier this month, on April 12, many UPI users faced issues while making payments due to a technical glitch. NPCI acknowledged this and assured users that they are working to resolve the issue and apologized for the inconvenience.
With faster response times, sending and receiving money through UPI will become more convenient. These improvements reflect the ongoing efforts to make digital payments quicker and easier for all users.
