The United States may be tightening its immigration policies, but it continues to be a land of opportunity for many. According to Forbes, 125 foreign-born billionaires now live in the U.S., and 12 of them were born in India, the highest number from any one country.
The number of immigrant billionaires in the U.S. has jumped from 92 in 2022 to 125 in 2025, with people coming from 43 different countries. Among them, India leads with 12 billionaires, followed by Israel and Taiwan with 11 each.
This means that over the last three years, India has added five new names to this elite group, pushing ahead of other nations like Canada (9), China (8), Germany (6), Iran (6), France (5), and Ukraine and Hungary (4 each).

These 125 immigrant billionaires now hold a combined wealth of $1.3 trillion, which is about 18% of the total $7.2 trillion that American billionaires own.
According to Forbes, a significant 93% of these immigrant billionaires are self-made, meaning they built their wealth from the ground up. Nearly two-thirds of them made their fortunes in technology and finance, sectors that continue to dominate the U.S. economy.
