Lots of iPhones from India are sent to other countries by Apple. In just two months at the start of this financial year, they sent out over $2 billion worth of iPhones. This is a huge number! It's 81% of all the iPhones made in India at that time. Apple did well in April and May. They sent out more than $1 billion worth of iPhones each month.
Apple's main helper in making iPhones is a company called Foxconn. They make up 65% of all the iPhones that leave India. Another company, Wistron, makes 24%, and Pegatron makes 11%. All three of these companies are part of a plan by the Indian government to encourage smartphone-making in the country.
Because of all the iPhones Apple is making in India, the country is exporting a lot more phones overall. Last year, they sent out $15.5 billion worth of phones. That is a lot more than the $11.1 billion they sent out the year before.
According to reports, the iPhones that makes in India are worth a lot of money. Last year, they were worth $14 billion. Depending on how they are shipped and taxed, they could be worth around $22 billion. Apple sent out $10 billion worth of iPhones from India last year. That is a big chunk of the total!
This is not the first time Apple has sent out a lot of iPhones from India. They have been doing it for the past three years. And not just a little bit more than $1 billion worth of iPhones each month, even in slow months like April and May.
Looking ahead, Apple is probably going to make even more iPhones in India. The time when they make the most phones is between July and October, just before the holidays. That is when they usually launch new iPhones. And after that, they send a lot of phones to other countries for holiday shopping.
