Google has opened a new office called 'Ananta' in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru. It is one of the company's largest offices in the world. The facility covers 1.6 million square feet and was built by Bagmane Tech Park over six years. However, Google customised it in just 11 months. The office can accommodate more than 5,000 employees, a big step forward as Google already has around 10,000 employees in India.

What makes Ananta special?

The name 'Ananta' comes from Sanskrit and means "infinite" or "limitless." The office is designed with a unique city-grid layout. Each floor has team-based "neighbourhoods" and a central gathering space called 'Sabha,' which is designed like an amphitheatre.

Sustainability is a key feature of the new campus. It has one of India's largest smart glass installations, which helps reduce energy use. It also recycles 100% of its wastewater and has a rainwater harvesting system. The office has a lot of green space, including walking and jogging paths and a special area called 'Aranya' forest, which also acts as a noise barrier. The building was made using locally sourced materials to support sustainability.

To make the workplace more inclusive, the campus has tactile flooring to assist visually impaired individuals, along with accessible amenities and braille signs.

Google's expanding presence in India

Google has been in India for 20 years and has helped with digital transformation in many ways. The company has introduced AI-driven projects like flood forecasting, early tuberculosis detection, and financial inclusion through Google Pay. The new Ananta office will help Google continue this work in India and worldwide.

"As India has charted an ambitious new reality for its citizens with technology, Google has been its proud partner over the last 20 years. The new Ananta campus in Bengaluru marks a significant milestone in our journey, marking the technological paradigm shift underway with AI," said Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager, of Google India, as per news agency ANI.

Also added that Google aims to bring AI to more businesses and people, focusing on important areas like agriculture, healthcare, and finance. Google also plans to work with Indian researchers and startups to create new ideas and help people gain skills for an AI-driven future.
