A constable from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, received a disciplinary notice for his improper conduct. In a surprising and humorous response, he blamed his wife for his behaviour. He claimed that marital problems caused him sleepless nights and nightmares, leading to his misconduct at work. His reply went viral on social media, prompting an internal investigation to verify his claims and understand how the letter became public.

Commandant Sachindra Patel of the 44th Battalion PAC confirmed that an inquiry has been ordered. Battalion PAC officer Patel told PTI on Wednesday that officials are investigating the constable’s identity, the authenticity of his response, and how the viral letter was circulated. On February 17, Battalion In-Charge Dalnayak Madhusudan Sharma issued a notice to the PAC constable for negligence in duty.

The notice stated that the constable was late for the morning briefing on February 16, was not properly groomed, and often missed unit activities. This was considered a serious violation of discipline.

The constable replied, saying he suffers from insomnia due to ongoing marital issues. He claimed that in his dreams, his wife "sits on his chest and tries to drink his blood with the intent to kill him." As a result, he said he could not sleep at night, which made him late for the official briefing. He also mentioned that he is on medication for depression and irritability. Also, his mother has a nerve disorder, adding to his troubles.

The constable ended his response with an emotional plea, saying he has lost the will to live and wants to "surrender" himself at God's feet. He asked his superiors to end his suffering by guiding him toward spiritual salvation. Officials are also investigating how the letter was leaked on social media.
