In a dramatic incident in Thane, Maharashtra, a 62-year-old woman, who weighed a substantial 160 kilograms, faced a frightening mishap when she accidentally tumbled from her bed. The incident unfolded in the Waghbil area at approximately 8 am on Thursday. Her precarious health condition had left her with mobility issues, making her particularly vulnerable.
Distressed and unable to safely return her to the bed, the family swiftly contacted the fire department for immediate assistance. Yasin Tadvi, the head of Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell, recounted the family's call for help.
Responding promptly to the distress call, a team from the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) raced to the scene. Their mission was clear: to carefully lift the woman and place her back onto the bed. Thankfully, the woman emerged from the ordeal without sustaining any injuries, a reassuring fact confirmed by Tadvi.
Tadvi also noted the uniqueness of this emergency response. While RDMC is accustomed to addressing various crisis situations, an incident like this one, involving the rescue of a person of such significant weight, is indeed an exception.
In a separate and tragic occurrence in Mukkom, Kerala, a two-year-old boy met a sorrowful fate. As the toddler slept, a bed leaning against a nearby wall unexpectedly toppled over onto him. This unfortunate incident transpired at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday in the Mukkom area of Kozhikode district.
The parents were not in close proximity at the time of the accident, leaving the child vulnerable. Authorities from the Mukkom police station have initiated inquest proceedings to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident further. A case of unnatural death has been officially registered, with additional details expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
