A young man, 24, hailing from Gautam Buddha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, was recently detained for impersonating a pilot from Singapore Airlines. The authorities reported that Sangeet Singh was apprehended at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi last Thursday.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which oversees security at key facilities including India’s most frequented airport, noticed Singh casually walking in the vicinity of the airport’s Metro Skywalk. He was dressed in a pilot’s attire and had a fake Singapore Airlines identification card hanging around his neck.
Officials stated that Singh created the counterfeit ID using an online application called Business Card Maker. He had acquired his pilot’s outfit and other items from a store named Pilot 18 located in Dwarka’s Sector 9.
Further investigation uncovered that Singh had enrolled in and completed an Aviation Hospitality program in Mumbai, which lasted for a year and concluded in 2020.
The investigation also found that Singh had deceived his family into believing he had secured a position as a commercial pilot with Singapore Airlines.
Singh is now facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including section 420 for fraud and dishonesty, section 468 for committing forgery with the intent to cheat, and section 471 for using a forged document as if it were legitimate.
