A young woman on TikTok is going viral after sharing her painful journey of having a period that lasted for over 1,000 days — nearly three years.
In a series of candid videos, Poppy, a young woman from the UK, shared how her life was turned upside down by a mysterious health condition that left doctors puzzled for years.
Poppy's story began with two weeks of nonstop bleeding, which led her to seek a doctor. But what came was a three-year hard time involving multiple doctor visits, countless tests, and a series of medications — none of which provided relief.
“My iron levels? Rock bottom. The cramps? Awful. All of my muscles hurt, my bones hurt. I have constant headaches, constant nausea,” Poppy said in one video.
Despite being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) early on and undergoing a hysteroscopy, doctors couldn’t pinpoint the cause of her ongoing bleeding.
Even after being fitted with an intrauterine device (IUD) and prescribed stronger medication by a specialist, the bleeding persisted.
“It was just so isolating,” Poppy shared. “People don’t really know how to respond when you say, ‘I’ve been bleeding for over a thousand days.’”
The breakthrough came only recently, when a new doctor reviewed her case with fresh eyes.
To her disbelief, the root of the problem had been visible on her very first ultrasound — a structural abnormality in her uterus that had gone unmentioned for years.
“It was picked up on the very first ultrasound I had, and no one thought to mention it to me,” she shared.
With a proper diagnosis finally in hand, Poppy is now on a treatment plan tailored to her condition. Though her journey is not over yet, she’s already feeling hopeful for the first time in years.
Poppy has since turned to TikTok to raise awareness about women’s health issues, sharing her story to help others advocate for themselves in medical settings. Her videos have resonated with thousands of viewers, many of whom have shared similar experiences of being dismissed or misdiagnosed.
“You know your body better than anyone else,” she told her followers. “If something feels wrong, don’t stop until someone listens
