An elderly farmer, Sheetal Singh from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur was in for a surprise of his life when he bought a lottery ticket while visiting a medical store to buy medicines for his family member. Sheetal Singh, a resident of Mahilpur in the city said that almost four hours after buying the ticket, received a call regarding the lottery, saying that he had won Rs 2.5 crores. Sheetal Singh told reporters that there is a happy atmosphere at his house and there is a rush of people congratulating him.

Singh, who works as a farmer and has two children, both married, said that he and his family will decide how to use the amount won from the lottery. Meanwhile, the owner of the lottery stall, SK Aggarwal said he has been in this occupation for the past 15 years and it was for the third time that a customer had won a lottery worth crores of Rupees. Sheetal Singh’s grandson (daughter’s son) Sukhpreet said that the family is very happy and they had never even dreamed that they would win such a huge amount.

There have been plenty of such incidences in the past where people have just bought a lottery ticket for the fun of it and turned out to be the jackpot winners, becoming millionaires almost overnight.
