Amidst the chaos and misery at Kabul Airport, ex-Dutch MP, Joram van Klavere shared a rather unusual story of a truck driver from Peshawar.
The Dutch politician wrote on Facebook, “Believe it or not. A truck driver from Peshawar who drives the route of Torkham-Kabul went missing for three days.” He further narrated that the family of the driver thought he died in Kabul.
The incident surfaced after a social media user who goes by the name of Asad Shinwari shared the anecdote, claiming that Masho Shinwari, a resident of Landi Kotal, used to drive from Peshawar to Torkham. He parked his truck somewhere in Kabul and went to the airport.
On Tuesday, Klavere narrated that the family of the driver received a call from him, and he informed them that he is in America.
The driver, as claimed by the Dutch politician, said that he simply went to the Kabul airport to see all the “action.”
The clueless driver somehow got on a plane and ended up in the USA.
In the very recent past, as the Taliban took over, Masho stopped calling his family. There was no contact with Coolio for 3–4 days. The family was very worried. Thankfully, Masho called his family and told them that he is now in America.
“WHAT? How did you end up in America?” the family inquired.
And here is how Masho explained this (paraphrased from here on):
I don’t know, I was just roaming around near the airport aimlessly and I was very curious to see how do airplanes look in proximity.
People were heading towards the airport. And I was like, let me also just go and check out how the airplane to see how it looks like from close-by.
There was a big airplane with a hole in the back through which people were boarding the plane. And I thought, let me also get through so that I can see how it looks like from the inside.
As I entered, there were lots of people and everyone sat. There were Americans. And the doors just got shut. It was too loud, too noisy, loads of people and I couldn’t come out.
And soon, the plane took off, and we all ended up in America. It’s now my second night here and I have just managed to get hold of a mobile phone with great difficulty.
I wanted to reach you guys (family) so that I can inform you that my poor truck is still parked there in the airport. And I have the keys here with me. Please help me by taking care of the truck to ensure that no one steals it!
