In a shocking incident at the Karnataka High Court, a man reportedly tried to end his life by cutting his throat with a blade in front of Chief Justice Nilay Vipinchandra Anjaria in Court Hall One, as per police reports.
The individual, identified as Srinivas from Mysuru, passed a file to the security personnel at the entrance of Court Hall One. Before anyone could comprehend the situation, he inflicted a wound on his throat in the presence of Chief Justice Anjaria.
The security team acted swiftly, providing immediate assistance and transporting him to Bowring Hospital for medical attention, as stated by a high-ranking police official.
The reasons behind his drastic action remain unclear. He entered Court Hall One and injured himself with a blade. The security team witnessed the incident and promptly intervened. He is currently receiving medical care at the hospital," the official said. No suicide note was discovered at the scene, he further added.
Chief Justice Anjaria voiced his concerns about the security breach within the High Court premises and questioned the security team about how the individual managed to bring a sharp object inside. He also instructed the police to document the evidence and findings from the incident.
The contents of the file that Srinivas handed over to the security staff remain a mystery, and the court has decided not to inspect the documents as they were not submitted through a registered advocate.
The High Court further stated that no documents should be accepted without the court’s explicit instruction.
The police are still investigating the reasons behind the man’s suicide attempt and are awaiting the opportunity to record his statement once the doctors declare him medically fit.
