India was celebrating the auspicious festival of Karwa Chauth festival on October 20, marked by women’s fasting for the long lives of their husbands. Amid the festival, a video of an elderly man performing the Karwa Chauth puja for former adult film star Mia khalifa is surfacing on social media. The clip shared by the user name Guru Ji on X  has ignited the debate and attention of many.

The video shows an elderly man performing the puja with all the rituals including the traditional thali and channi while gazing at a picture of Mia Khalifa fixed in a wall. As the video went viral the internet got divided into two groups, one of them finding humour in the video while the other viewing it as a misguided attempt to attract attention.

Reacting to the video, one of the users called it “creepy” and wrote, “This is creepy’: Elderly man performs Karwa Chauth puja for Mia Khalifa. What the Hell is going on in the world.”

Another user wrote condemning the action, “Nothing, just their grandchildren made them do this just for some likes and engagement.”

As the festival of Karwa Chauth approached, the internet was filled with various kinds of funny videos. One of the videos showed a woman performing the puja in an unusual way, standing on the knees of her husband.

Incidents over Mia Khalifa's picture

This isn’t the first time that Mia Khalifa’s name has provoked controversy. Earlier also in August, a hoarding featuring a picture similar to her appeared in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. The hoarding was part of the decoration of the Aadi Festival, when temples worship the goddess parvati.
