In Bathinda, Punjab, a case of animal cruelty has emerged as the police intervened to rescue a chicken from a rooster fight in the village. The chicken, now under police protection, had its life saved by the law enforcement officers.
The injured chicken has been taken to a hospital for necessary care, and the police have taken legal action by registering a case against three individuals in connection to the rooster fight incident.
In the village of Balluana in Bathinda, fight was organized, involving approximately 200 people, according to police official Nirmal Singh. Upon receiving information about the event, the police promptly arrived at the location.
Despite everyone managing to flee, the police were able to find two chickens and one person, as shared by Nirmal Singh. The authorities were informed that the organizers were mistreating the animals. The injured chicken is now receiving security, along with medical and food assistance. Legal action has been taken, with a case filed against three individuals, and 11 trophies from the event have been recovered, as stated by Mr. Singh.
The police have taken legal action by filing a case under the Animal Cruelty Act against the accused. One of the culprits, Rajvinder, was arrested, but he later secured bail. Meanwhile, the other individuals named in the case are currently evading arrest and are on the run.
The rooster, considered a victim in the case, serves as crucial evidence that the police intend to use against the accused in court. The recovery of trophies indicates that a competition took place, even though they were not found at the location during the raid. Nirmal Singh mentioned that the rooster would be presented in court as and when instructed by the court proceedings.
Currently, the police have entrusted the care of the chicken to a designated individual. Recognizing that keeping it in the police station might lead to loneliness, a caretaker has been assigned the responsibility of looking after the chicken. The police are actively ensuring the well-being of the chicken by making personal visits to prevent any potential harm to the animal.
