A 35-year-old man from Chhattisgarh died of suffocation after reportedly swallowing a live chicken chick. Villagers believe he may have done this as part of a ritual linked to superstitious beliefs.
The incident happened in Ambikapur. Anand Yadav, who lived in Chhindkalo village, fainted at home after taking a bath. His family took him to the hospital, but the doctors couldn’t save him.
Chick found alive in body
Doctors were shocked during the post-mortem when they found a live chick inside Anand's throat. At first, they couldn’t understand the cause of his death. But when they cut open his body, they discovered the chick stuck in his airway, which caused him to suffocate.
Dr. Santu Bag, who led the postmortem, explained the findings, saying, “This is the first time I have encountered such a case in my career, having conducted over 15,000 postmortems. The findings shocked us all.” The chick, about 20 cm long, had obstructed both his breathing and food passage, leading to suffocation.
Superstition suspected as cause
The local villagers suspect Anand's actions were influenced by a "tantrik," or occult practitioner. According to some residents, Anand was struggling with infertility and might have swallowed the chick as part of an occult ritual to help him become a father.
The local police have been informed about the matter and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This incident shows how following superstitions can be dangerous and sometimes lead to tragic outcomes. The police are still investigating to find out exactly what happened. Even in today's modern era, many people still believe in superstitions and tantriks, making their lives difficult. Instead of trusting science and logic, they turn to superstition, which can lead to harm and tragedy.
