Mahindra Electric Automobiles has revealed the next step in the brand's electric journey in the form of the Vision Thar.e concept car. It was unveiled at Mahindra's Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa. The occasion also marked the debut of the global tractor brand OJA and the Scorpio-N-based pickup truck.

Diverging from its three-door variant, the Thar.e electric SUV is uniquely equipped with five doors, prioritizing practicality and offering ample room for an expanded vehicle configuration. The concept SUV proudly showcases elevated suspension, exuding a sturdy demeanour enhanced by the Thar's iconic square and upright proportions, evoking the image of a resilient and proficient off-road vehicle. Its exterior design is marked by "flat panels" and visible door hinges, further enhancing its robust and utilitarian visual appeal.

One can see the modern look of the Thar.e concept, especially in its unique design. It has square-shaped headlights on the front, which will probably use modern LED lights. The big front bumper makes the vehicle look even stronger and is similar to the bumpers on newer SUVs like the Ford Bronco and older models like Land Cruisers.

The back of the Thar.e looks all black and stylish, and inside, the design is simple and neat. The dashboard is flat, the steering wheel has three spokes, and there's a big screen in the middle. Unlike some other Mahindra concept cars, the screen in the middle doesn't cover the whole dashboard. The Thar.e electric SUV is a concept that shows Mahindra's creative ideas about electric cars. It mixes cool design with advanced technology.

Since the concept is still being worked on, Mahindra hasn't shared all the details about the new Thar.e yet. But when it's ready for production, the car might have a 60 kWh battery from BYD, a company that makes cars in India too. It's also possible that the car could use electric motors from Volkswagen.

Although there's a lot of anticipation, the Thar.e won't be available in the market right away. If it does become a reality, it might start being produced around 2027. Meanwhile, there are other electric models from Mahindra's BE range that are getting ready to be launched.
