Uttarakhand’s GB Pant university inks pact with Russia on cattle cloning, research

An agreement has been formed by the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, and Saint Petersburg University in Russia to improve research and teaching in veterinary science and cow cloning. The agreement was signed during a recent trip to Russia by a four-member delegation from Pantnagar University, according to a news release issued by the university.
The announcement further stated that the partnership intends to support joint research in veterinary science and cow cloning between the two schools.
According to the statement, Russia may benefit from the cloning technique created by Vice-chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan of the university by expanding the number of agricultural animals and guaranteeing food security. “The beef production in Russia is getting down because of non-availability of quality beef. India’s cloning technology will help Russia to increase beef production,” Chauhan said while speaking to the media.
According to Pantnagar University Vice Chancellor, the hand-guided cloning method developed in India is highly easy to use and efficient. Head of the department of veterinary and animal husbandry extension education SC Tripathi was among the Indian delegation members, along with Dean PGS, KP Raverkar, and HJ Shiva Prasad, director of foreign relations.
