The CBI, after interrogating Tala Police Station officer-in-charge Abhijit Mondal and RG Kar Medical College’s former principal Sandip Ghosh in custody, revealed to the court that “new/additional” findings in the investigation indicated the creation or alteration of “false records” at Tala police station related to the case.

After their remand ended, Mondal and Ghosh were brought before the court on Wednesday, where the special court extended their judicial custody until September 30.

The CBI also alleged that there was an “unnecessary delay of two days” in seizing the clothing and belongings of prime accused Sanjay Roy, which could have served as critical evidence against him.

Prime suspect Sanjay Roy was arrested the day after the horrific incident, as “his involvement in the crime had already come to light.” The CBI is now investigating whether there was any criminal conspiracy involving Roy, Ghosh, and Mondal.

The body of a junior doctor was found in the seminar hall of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College on August 9.The autopsy report confirmed that she had been raped and murdered.

Sanjay Roy remains the sole accused in the brutal crime. The case triggered nationwide protests, with junior doctors in Kolkata refusing to resume work while demanding justice for the victim. The victim’s family has also accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata police of attempting to cover up the crime and offering money to the family as part of the alleged cover-up.
