Several similar train sabotage attempts with miscreants planting suspicious goods near railroad lines have been reported around the nation in recent months. These acts might be a part of a bigger plot to derail trains, according to investigators.

A serious train tragedy was avoided in Kanpur when the loco pilot quickly applied the brakes after seeing an LPG cylinder in front of a cargo train. The event happened at 8:10 am on a train traveling from Kanpur to Allahabad, according to the police.

The same day, there was another “attempt at mischief” reported from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, where railroad “detonators” were discovered on rails on September 18, during the passage of an Army special train.

Furthermore, on September 20, the Doon Express loco pilot in the Rampur region of Uttar Pradesh averted another possible catastrophe by halting the train upon observing iron rods on the rails. Authorities suspect that this may potentially be a sabotage attempt.

According to India Today, the Indian Railways said on September 10 that there had been eighteen train sabotage attempts nationally since August to derail trains.

There have been 24 of these events since June 2023, in which items such as cement blocks, bicycles, iron rods, and LPG cylinders have been discovered on rail tracks.

Of the 19 occurrences, 15 occurred in August and 4 in September, including the most recent train derailment attempt in Kanpur, according to the Railways.
